5 Great Travel Apps – US

5 Great Travel Apps – US

Notes:

The Travel Apps reviews will be a continuously updated feature.  This first article will cover five great apps for travel within United States.  We will shortly post five great apps for traveling internationally. Once a month we will come back to this topic and expand on these apps as new ones are published or reviewed. Thank you.

Review:

App #1: TripIt Travel Organizer

iTunes Link: TripIt

Price: Free

Description:

When traveling you will have various reservations that you need to keep track of, such as your flight information, hotel information and car rental. TripIt makes it very easy for you to have all your reservations information in one place.  Simply forward all your reservations to plans@tripit.com and they automatically mesh all your travel information into a nice package.

Why did we choose it?

When traveling the last thing you will need is to look for your reservations information and confirmation numbers, this app brings all of it into one place.

App #2: Yelp

iTunes Link: Yelp Link

Price: Free

Description:

Looking for places to eat, trying out cool hangouts in a new location?  Then this is the app for you.  With millions of users on Yelp the reviews are always up to date wherever you are.

Why did we choose it?

Traveling to new locations gives you a chance to get out of your normal routine, trying out new restaurants, types of foods and getting a better idea of places to visit when you are in a new city makes this app a great start.

App #3: Hotel Tonight

iTunes Link: Hotel Tonight Link

Our Review: Hotel Tonight

Price: Free

Description:

If you don’t plan ahead with booking your hotel rooms this is a great app.  They have variety of hotels available at big cities with last minute deals you can have a great adventure at a discount.

Why did we choose it?

Finding hotels that suit your needs and are located in the center of town is an important part of your travels, this app helps you get there.

App #4: FlightAware

iTunes Link: Flight Aware Link

Price: Free

Description:

Do you want a no frills app that lets you check your flight status and is free?  This app gets you the latest information based on your flight number, departing airport or airline and date of flight.

Why did we choose it?

Travel is hard enough without missing your flight; most airlines are over booked which makes it even harder to find another flight to get to your destination – and who wants to pay additional fees to the airliners?

App #5: Postagram

iTunes Link: Postagram Link

Price: Free

Description:

Sending a postcard to friends and family while traveling is part of our DNA; thanks to Postagram you can take a picture via your iPhone and for $0.99 send your loved ones a postcard!  We think this will increase the duration of your postcard at your destination from 2-4 weeks to 4-8 weeks at least!

Why did we choose it?

Because we are too lazy during our travel time to go look for postcards, we find this very convenient.  Plus the personalization of the postcard is a major plus!
